Melilla and her Magical Friend

Melilla and Her Magical Friend

It was the crack of dawn. Melilla was sitting at the porch. She had a blank look starring into the horizon. It had been a long and dreary night.

She sat on her rocking wooden peach swing, dangling her feet, mesmerized by the beauty of the morning, as she wiped her tears that fell like silent drops into the mug of her morning tea.

The road had been too long. Her muscles ached and her heart churned. How long was this going to take place? she wondered. As she looked down and stared at the floor, swinging gently back and forth. Carrying the world on her shoulders.

All of a sudden this tiny glimmer of light came flying towards her and sat on  her  right lap. It was very diamondly sparkly.  As she got closer, she saw that this sparkly dangling light had tiny baby wings on it. Silent giggles arrived at her eardrums, laughter and joy secretly reached her heart from. It was a Fairy. Althought she always had wished for it, she had never seen a Fairy before.

"It is just a dream, " the fairy said. "Just a simple dream. You have the power to change the dream into a different dream. "

"How so?" Melilla responded. If the little fairy only knew all she had been through all her life. The battle of the illness, the anger, the pain, the betrayals, the envies, the jealousies, mainly the jealousy and envies of others, especially women.

She looked back at the fairy, who continued giggling... a happy giggle...

"It's just a dream," the fairy repeated, "change the dream into a happy one, a joyous one."

"But how?" Melilla responded.

The magical fairy took out her tiny little wand, shook it, swirled it and flung sparkles of light spreading before her very eyes into the Horizon that reached the sun, which was coming up from behind the east side of green carpeted meadows, stretching its warm rays of light into the heavens, then down towards everything it could reach.

"See?" The fairy mentioned. "All you have to do is remove the veil and bring the light from within to shine into everything without."

Melilla was silent and thought, but what about the past, how would that erase the past from all the pain and anguish she had lived?

"It doesn't," the fairy responded, as if though listening to her thoughts.

"It changes the present moment and then the subsequent moment and then the next magical moment and you start building a dream moment by moment, observing and learning the miracles that constantly show up in your life. Then you realize how much brighter and more beautiful and colorful your dream, your new dream can be... See?"

The dancing Fairy flung her wand once again and sent sparkles of light before her... extending even further in the Horizon this time.

"But how do I let go of the past?" Melilla insisted.

"You let it go," the fairy responded you drop it, embrace it and envelop it with love, forgive it and you let it go!"

"But how?"  Melilla insisted confused.

"by noticing every miracle that shows up every day, every moment, every instant.  Every day there are tons and tons of miracles that appear...  all you have to do is notice them."

"Ah!" she added, " and always count your blessings... always... "

"And the past? Am I not supposed to dig in the past to clear it?" Melilla insisted, puzzled.

"It doesn't exist. It's an old dream that needs to fade away." The fairy recommended.

She then flew towards Melilla's heart and sat on her chest for a moment.  Then she twirled her little wings and flew above her eyes and said, "follow me!"

She walked her into the garden.. guiding her into the Horizon and noticed that through the sun and some glimmers of mist of the morning a beautiful rainbow was forming before her.

"Let's go in" the fairy said.

Melilla began walking into the rainbow... feeling the color of the Hue gentle red. Then she moved in the beautiful Hue of Mandarin orange. As she walked in further she felt the yellow Hue of the sun all around her. Furthermore, going in deeper she felt the green emerald green Hue envelop her. She  then went on further to experience the full presence of  the aqua blue hue.. beginning to  feel lighter and clearer. As she moved deeper into this beautiful indigo hue until she reached the violet light  flame a cool healing sensation of cool fire that embraced her, hugged her and cleared away her past... Lastly, she stepped into the center of the rainbow that was filled with sparkles of light sparkles of joy and sparkles of love.

As she stood there the fairy advised her to look into your heart, "what do you see? "

"I see the light," Melilla answered "the veil has been lifted..."

As she open her eyes all she could hear was the echo of giggles and laughter of the fairy who had disappeared and left her in the center of the rainbow...

Melilla took a long deep breath and saw how all the sparkles of light reached beyond the horizon. She placed her hand in her heart and said:

"I found it! I finally found it... "

Celebrating May & Mother's Day

Celebrating May & Mother's Day   It's May already. We are almost halfway into the year. Can you believe it? Time flies by.  Everything is fully blooming right now, offering us an array  of  bright and beautiful colors in a diversity of shapes and forms.  Nature can truly be mesmerizing and enchanting. This is the month we celebrate Mother's Day. In Guatemala it is always celebrated on the 10th of May regardless of the day it falls  in . In the US it is held on the second Sunday in May,  which is this coming Sunday May 11th. This day and perhaps every day  it   is important and valuable to celebrate our mothers who gave us life.  Life blesses me with an  incredible mother. Even though many times throughout life we had our differences.  S h e was quite a remarkable woma n  sand wish I would've gotten to know her better. I really miss her sometimes. Many times she comes to me in my dreams. So...

Tribute to My Mother

Tribute to My Mother Helen Eileen Overa Thompson de Brose My mother and I...  the Beginning It's been 2 years today July 21st, since my mother passed away, Helen Eileen Overa Thompson de Brose. I will never forget that day. she had been in a nursing home for quite some time due to dealing with dementia and other issues. the last years I had spent time every week doing video calls with her through Zoom, and I used to sing to her "Over the Rainbow" every time, her favorite song. She many times responded with tears in her eyes, saying, "it's so nice." Thank goodness she was always cognitive, you could have a wonderful conversation with her and it was always pleasant to talk to her, all the way to the end.  However, she did not remember who you were sometimes or where she was or what she was doing. She forgot everything that had happened a moment ago.  I also tried to call her every other day and just tell her that I loved her and would also sing to her over the...

Happy July & Misummer Dream

Happy July Midsummer Dream   We are in the middle of July. Summer has been wonderful so far, with some twists and turns and some really hot days, yet still fun and amusing. How has it been for you so far? We are now enjoying the Farmers Market, which is very petite here, with several new vendors, some selling the best yummiest peaches I have ever tried, others have a delightful sourdough bread, and many have freeze dried items which seems to be the fad at this time. What activities outside of work are you enjoying?   Sometimes we forget to go outside and play. It is so important to have balance in life. Many times, we get so wrapped up in trying to make things happen that we forget to allow things to happen, to just sit back and enjoy the ride of life instead of stressing about it all the time, sometimes to the point of burnout.    overstressed? How can we find more balance in life, between work and play, sleep and exercise a...
