Bitty the Bee

Bitty the Bee Totem Meaning of Bees: Good luck, prosperity, good fortune, sweetness, kindness Spring has come in full bloom with all its beautiful colors, luscious trees and exquisite nature animals in all of its variety of shapes, forms, expressions and sizes. Among them there was Bitty, Bitty the Bee. She had been dancing from flower to flower, from purple ones, to red ones to yellow and fuchsia ones. Drinking its nectar pollinating and singing a song of joy. Loving every minute of it. When all of a sudden she flew into a trap. Oh no! What to do now?  She had flown into a screen door, a screen window and could not find its way out. How to come out of it? She fought and flew and wrestled and struggled to go through the screen, only to find herself exhausted. When I noticed her 'kampf' I opened all the screen doors as much as possible in hopes that she would find her way out.  When noticing that she had not succeeded I grabbed a gentle light sti...

In the Mist of the Light

In the Mist of the Light It was one December night! Yes! very close to Christmas. Camilia was excited. She had gathered all her ideas and was hoping to invite her friends and family for a dinner. It was time for her to be the host, she thought. All the decorations were set up. The tree with gold and silver bows and shimmering lights, with a bright star on the top. The candles that lit the whole room invading it with a scent of warmth and harmony. She was going to get tamales and horchata, and some fun ginger cookies and tortillas, a festive latin american dinner. She had chosen some beautiful music and had spent a couple of nights reading Short Christmas stories to chose the right one to bring a heart warming mood into the evening.   As she looked around her beautiful, elegant, yet small all prepped up home.  She realized that the space was perhaps too small and that most likely not everyone would be happy there. Sadness clouded her heart. The excitement ...

A Miracle in Disguise

FRAU HERMIN A week ago I receive a message on Facebook from someone: "Did you go to the German School by any chance?" to which I responded a, "Yes! why?"  "I have something for you. Do you have whatsapp?" "Yes, here is my number." I replied. What he shared with me pulled me right out of my socks. I The bell rang. It was time. It was time for that class. It was time for that class that I dreaded so much. I had arrived early that morning on the bus that crossed the bumpy road to the main gate, where all the school buses parked. My leather backpack was somewhat heavy, yet I loved it. It was given to me by my mother. We had bought it in a nice place at "el mercado de artesanias." It was a good partner in my first days of school, learning how to read and write and the gist of things in the world of education.  The school had recently moved to that far away location, that stood proud in the lands of my countr...

Tenés whatsapp?"me preguntó.

Serilia ~ "The Maximum Momentum"

The Maximum Momentum Evening tide, rises high as the viewers have gotten prepared for the occasion. A rare occasion that is. Something never seen before. In decades. It was a preparation not only of a lifetime but of several lifetimes. Serelia still remembers that day when she chose to come to experience that specific moment. It was eons of time, yet worth the wait, worth the stretch, worth to live that moment. The waves in the ocean were cuddling against each other, snuggling to find the force to endure it. Whispers of the sun rays caress their tender skins in allegiance to what was set forth. The creatures of the sea were listening. Gathering their families to hide under corals that expanded their ferned forms, as a disguise. What was coming was huge. They all knew it. Even Serilia. As the waves began to feel the push and pull, push and pull to rise higher and push towards the stars as high and tall as possible to make the announcement that the moon had a...

Betty the Bumble Bee

Betty the Bumble Bee Time is ticking and so is Elda's heart. She sat on the back porch of her house on the old wooden rocking chair that squeaked every time she gently rocked back and forth, back and forth. The rays of the sun were settling through the uncombed branches of the trees and garden where many wild animals nest and thrive. She knew it was coming close. She knew. She had had dreams about it and her whole body could feel it. A shift. A major shift. How it was going to take place was still inquirious. Yet, that it was going to happen, was a certainty. She drifted into a sleep, as the rocking chair continued to nestle her with its squeaky song, helping her to fall into a deep slumber. All of a sudden, the wind blew strong, forcing the screen door to open, blowing into Elda's face, awakening her, as it stirred and uncombed her long silky blond hair. She stretched and lifted her delicate body and walked into the side door, where she had, a...
